A Great Place To Stay It Is Too!

Just having returned from a great holiday in Portugal, I wanted to share some of our experiences there and one of the most wonderful experiences that must be mentioned is our stay at the villa "Our Lady of Mercy". In my next post I shall place a full review about this villa, written by J.A. Koning, which may help you decide where to plan your next trip to.

However, before posting the review I would like to give you some general information about this beautiful former Country Estate which dates from 1740 and previously had grounds stretching to 100.000 m2 surrounding it. It was not until the end of the past century that the grounds of the property were reduced to 8.500 m2, allowing the owners to concentrate more on the beautiful gardens and other amenities like the pool and tennis court. All this is now also to the benefit of the present visitors who rent this exquisite and well equipped villa.

When renting this property, you are sure to be renting a six roomed, completely renovated and luxuriously decorated property. The five bedrooms are divided over two separate houses. One house, the "pool house",  has two en-suite rooms on the second floor both of which have a view of the well-sized swimmingpool and garden. On the ground floor there is a large lounge inlcuding dining and recreation area, a well equipped kitchen and a further WC. The second house, situated just around the corner from the "pool house" houses a further three bedrooms, two on the second floor and one bedroom on the ground floor. For people travelling by car, there is a garage with two places for guests. The entire set up makes this villa ideal for a group of people travelling together, but not necessarily being one family. Should you be a couple wanting to stay at this magnificent location, you can rent just the pool house at an attractive lower price!
If you are planning a trip to Portugal and decide to spend some time in or around Porto, then I whole- heartedly recommend you stay at villa "Our Lady of Mercy". I do not easily write down recommendations but in this case I am willing to make an exception to the rule!
