Goa Is Not Just About Anjuna Beach

5 Unusual And Less Visited Places In Goa

05/26/2013

This article takes a look at some unusual and less visited attractions and places in Goa. If you wish to enjoy a holiday with a difference, then try to include these attractions under your Goa packages.
Goa is not just about Anjuna Beach or about the Basilica of Bom Jesus, the famed church which is one of the most prestigious heritage landmarks of the country! There are a lot of other attractions some of which are quite unusual and even bizarre. Unfortunately, they do not find mention in most Goa tour packages, since they are not as popular. But if you want to shun the cliché and tread on the less frequented road, then here are some of the attractions which we recommend:
Fort Tiracol-Heritage
 i. Tiracol Fort: Tiracol is a pristine and unspoiled little region which is nestled on the northern tip of the state. It is a great place to visit if you are looking for serenity and solitude. One of its chief attractions is the Tiracol Fort. It stands majestically over the hills and can make you nostalgic. It belongs to those long-lost times when the Portuguese held sway over the state. You will love this place because, unlike other regions which are completely commercialized, this place is uncluttered and not crowded.
ii. Querim Beach: Querim Beach is nestled in Tiracol and is just adjacent to the Tiracol Fort. It is amongst the less visited beaches of Goa. So, it is needless to say that it is extremely secluded and quiet. If you are looking for some private time with your loved ones or if you wish to just sit back on the sand and ruminate over life, then this peaceful corner is your perfect paradise. However, you must be doubly careful while stepping inside the water. Swimming can be a bit risky since this beach is not evenly sloped. Its steepness increases the risk and hence lifeguards are very proactive in this area. You can find cheap shacks easily, but don’t expect vendors!
iii. Tattoo markets: There are some tattoo markets which make Goa a special place for the art lovers. Tattooing your hands is counted amongst some of the must-do things in Goa. So, it would be ideal to include one such market in your Goa package. Alternatively, you can also come across some professional tattoo artists on some of the local beaches.
iv. Dudhsagar Falls: Though, Dudhsagar Falls is amongst the most popular waterfalls of India, it is not frequented as often as it deserves to. Some tourists leave out this attraction from their itinerary because of its remote location. But this waterfall must not be missed at any cost. The area offers variety. Apart from feasting on the beauty of the milky waterfall, you can also feed the monkeys and get close to some other creatures which run around in this forested region.
v. Portuguese mansions: There are many old Portuguese mansions which have that colonial charm. Their architecture is also quite impressive and they will warm you up beautifully. Miranda Mansion, Braganza House, Solar Colaso and Roque Caeton Miranda House are some of the must-visit attractions. They are often included under Goa packages. Hungry Bags is the authentic holiday planner which enjoys an upper hand in the travel portal industry. Its huge collection of Goa packages, Goa tour packages and a customized Goa package would leave you spoilt for choice.
